Momma’s Apple Crisp
01.12.15My very favorite Sunday dessert has always been my mom’s apple crisp. It’s pretty much impossible to screw up, super easy, and everyone always loves it!
Apple Filling:
- 5 Granny Smith apples
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
Start by peeling and coring 5 granny smith apples. If you don’t have a corer and peeler just go ahead and peel the apples and cut it into about 5 equal slices (like what you would serve to your kids for lunch). Then cut into 1/4 inch slices. Toss the apples with the sugar and cinnamon until throughly coated.
Crisp Topping:
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup of flour
Melt your butter completely. Stir in the remaining ingredients until the color is consistent and the texture is on edge of becoming a crumble.
Bake in a 9 x 13 (8 x 10 for thicker filling) at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. The topping should be golden brown and the filling should be bubbling around the edges. Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
