Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

08.21.14

Talk about some comfort cookies! I’ve been craving these babies for DAYS and I finally had a chance to whips up these yummy cookies this morning.

As much as I love oatmeal raisin cookies, I know that there are plenty of people who don’t care for them. These cookies provide the best of both worlds; loads of chocolate and the scrumptious oatmeal texture. And milk is a must with these cookies!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1/2 cup of softened butter (one stick)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 cup of milk chocolate chips (Guittard is my favorite)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream the butter and both sugars. Mix in the egg, vanilla and salt. Sift in the remaining dry ingredients. Scoop cookies onto a baking sheet and throw them into the freezer for 15 minutes. Bake the cold cookie dough balls for about 9 minutes. The tops will look slightly under cooked (they will continue to bake after they are out of the oven), and the edges should be golden brown.

Yield: About 2 dozen cookies
