To Die For Hot Fudge Cake

10.04.13

This cake must have some sort of sorcery hidden inside of it’s ingredients because it’s magical! As this cake cooks it makes a pool of hot fudge underneath the cake. Tricky right? It’s amazing when it is served HOT with a huge scoop of ice cream.

Hot Fudge Cake:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 TBS of cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 2 TBS of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup of packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 cups of HOT tap water
  • ICE CREAM

Preheat your over to 350 degrees. Start by mixing flour, granulated sugar, 2 TBS of cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in a UNGREASED square pan 9 x 9 pan. Mix in milk, oil and vanilla with a fork until smooth (similar to brownie batter texture). Stir in nuts and spread in pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder on top of the batter. Then, poor the hot water on top of the brown sugar and cocoa mixture. DO NOT MIX IN WATER! It should look like watery hot chocolate. Bake for 40 minutes.
